Department of consumer policy and public relations

The tasks of the consumer policy and public relations department include compiling advisory guidelines for the compliance of the requirements related to the legal acts of consumer protection, developing cooperation in consumer protection with other institutions, local governments and consumer and business organizations. developing international cooperation in the field of consumer protection with institutions and organizations, organizing consumer protection training and counselling for consumers and entrepreneurs and spreading the necessary information.

Market surveillance department

The tasks of the market surveillance department are monitoring the compliance with the requirements related to legal acts regulating the field of consumer protection regarding the goods and services provided at consumer markets as well as the marketing methods, including advertising, of businesses, advising consumers, making proposals to enforce or amend legal acts, processing consumers’ applications and solving their complaints, servicing the committee of consumer complaints as seen by legal acts and participating in the activity of cooperation networks of international consumer protection institutions.

The EU Consumer Centre of Estonia

The EU Consumer Centre of Estonia – the tasks of this department include answering to inquiries related to cross-border purchases, advising consumers, handling cross-border consumer complaints and forwarding these to the consumer complaints committee or other relevant institutions, participating in the activity of European Consumer Centres Network.
