Service contracts

Compile an estimate calculation on the price of the service and sign a written contract with the vendor , in which you establish the price of the service and all other related circumstances.

Prior to concluding a service contract

  • check the service provider’s background both by asking from friends and relative and by conducting searches online, be sure to browse the black list of the Consumer Protection Board;
  • find out whether the service is provided by a private or a legal person (e.g. check whether the money has to be transferred to the account of a private person or a company);
  • carefully read through the terms and conditions of the contract and ask for additional information should anything remain unclear for you.

When paying for a service, remember that the vendor is required to provide you with documentary evidence of your purchase by giving you a cheque. In the case of a periodical service, the service provider will send you and invoice and you are required to pay for the service on a contractual basis.

If you are not satisfied with the service, contact the vendor who provided the service to you with your complaint first. 

If the issue cannot be solved, you have the right to file a complaint about the service provider to the Consumer Disputes Committee.

If you do not agree with the decision of the Committee, you may turn to the county court. The other Party has a right to do the same.
  • Do not agree to pay a 100% advance payment without giving it adequate thought.
  • If you purchase the service from a private person, you will not be able to turn to the Consumer Protection Board for help should any issues occur. In that case, you can only turn to the court for help.
  • It is difficult to prove you have suffered harm in retrospect when it comes to many services. For example, in the case of a beauty treatment, it may be difficult to decide whether you or the service provider is right, as liking the result is largely a subjective matter.
